STAY WITH 7 KM OF COAST RESERVOIR, CAVE PAINTINGS, FOR 300 COWS OR 3000 SHEEP - EXCELLENT LOCATION Location and access: It is located in the department of Collon Cura in the province of Neuquén, 46 km. from Piedra del Aguila. It is accessed by national route and then, then by local gravel road 21 km until accessing the entrance gate to the establishment. Its total area is 14260 Ha divided into 5 squares and 8 paddocks. Distance to relevant points. - Piedra del Aguila 46 KM - Bariloche 174 KM - Neuquen 250 km Productive activities: Until 2012 the main activity was extensive sheep farming, merino breed, with special interest in the production of fine wool. A Registered Pure Merino squad was developed. After a transition of 2 years, the establishment was converted in 2014 to extensive cattle farming, dedicated to the breeding and sale of calves. A majada nucleus of merino sheep is preserved. Both activities continue. Destinations of the field Livestock: Broadly speaking, the establishment is located in the ecological area of mountains and plateaus. Their different altitude is a determining factor of abrupt ecological differences, which at times are consistent with the area of forest or central plateau. These differences are marked above or below 850/900 m.a.s.l. and are accompanied, generally, by the divisions of the paintings and their destinations as wintering or summer. The field has an important variability of altitude, from 1100 m. to 600 m., passing through intermediate altitudes of 800 to 1000 m. As a consequence, there is a significant variation in the type of fields and perennial or annual forage species and various grasses or shrubs. On the other hand, the establishment is crossed in all its width, at the altitude of 800 m.a.s.l., by the canyon of Acheco, which constitutes a mallín of singular characteristics that offers a different destination from the general scheme of the field. This mallín gives rise to the 8 paddocks with different functions according to the surface and annual productivity. Main house: 15 m x 4.30 m = 64,5 m2. Distribution: 1 large bedroom, 1 bathroom, kitchen, dining room and living room. At the entrance to the house there is an anteroom. The house is equipped with: 2 slow burning wood stoves, stove and bottled gas heater (2 tubes of 45 kg). The construction is all closed, but the finishes are missing to have water, bathroom and kitchen installed. It is used for an occasional overnight stay for one or days in the winter when touring the paintings with hacienda. Aquaculture: The field borders the Limay River, dammed by the Piedra del Aguila hydroelectric project. There are approximately 7000 m. of coastline that identifies its limit in the SE direction. There is a dirt road, for exclusive use so far, passable for 4x2 truck, 20 km long, from the town to the coast. The lake of Piedra del Aguila, together with Lake Alicura, are integrated for fish development through the installation of fish farms both on the Neuquén and Rionegrin coasts. Between them they have a potential production capacity of 17,000 tons per year. On the other hand, as a positive sign and of great impact, the Piedra del Aguila fish processing plant is in production. Among its conditions of authorization, by the granting authority, it must be available so that regional aquaculture producers can process the fish they produce in this plant. Rural tourism with a focus on archeology: Within the countryside there is an important archaeological site integrated by the caves Epullan Grande, Epullan Chica, Oquedad and Paredón Sur, which continues to be the subject of research by Argentine and foreign specialists. The Epullan Grande cave provided an extensive sequence of 10,000 years of occupation in the oldest moments related to the first human settlement in the region. The excavation work indicates that rock art dated to 9970 years before the present was found on the base rock. Between that date and 7100 A.P. it was inhabited ephemerally and the bottom of it was used as a burial space. From the year 7100, the human presence became stronger, until from the year 5200 B.P. the site was used as a deposit of vegetables, especially of a cactus still present in the area, called austrocactus Bertini. Later, from 1100 A.P. and the beginning of the twentieth century, it was used as a dwelling. Outstanding testimonial objects include rock engravings on the floor of the site, on the interior walls and on the exterior walls. The Epullan Grande cave is registered in the National Cadastre of Natural Cavities -CNCN- with the code Q-95. Also, to enrich all other perspectives: Although this field is a typical landscape of mountains, plateaus and pampas are coirón, neneo, mamuel choique, coliguay, cat's claw, cortadera and junquillo, it also has extensive sites that contrast with the majority. Such is the case of "la quebrada", located at the SE end, bordering the Piedra del Aguila lake, with an approximate extension of 1000 Ha. It is a sector that presents marked canyons, among its most outstanding characteristics. There is a strong altitudinal gradient, where a particular rock formation emerges, forming a red mountain range of shallow soil, with little vegetation cover and difficult access. It has a natural aguada, known as "aguada de la Menta", in allusion to the Cerro de la Menta, located on the border with the neighboring field. In this unique oasis there are good forage species, and it is currently a preferred site for the wintering of cattle. In other parts of the countryside, the European wild boar has stomped on demonstrations of numerous family groups, although lately they have decreased as a result of the long period of drought suffered by the region, added to the precipitation of ashes of the Caulle cord (Chile) in 2011. The puma, the guanaco, the ostrich, the wildcat and the pajonal cat have also been highlighted; all species that have suffered the process of drought and volcanic ash. And, although the field lacks natural or implanted tree masses, it has large ravines with abundant cutters and small patches of chacayales in the vicinity of humid sources. Potentially, it can become an ideal site as a wildlife refuge for refuge of different species.
