Who does not know the Puy de Dôme, the most famous volcano in France. This volcano may have died out, but the nature in the area is all the more lively. Exuberant actually, because nowhere will you find such extensive nature parks, as much flora and fauna as in the Auvergne. Even the deepest valleys and the highest slopes are accessible via narrow winding roads. Everywhere in the Auvergne you will see beautiful castles and churches that are worth seeing. To the west of Clermont-Ferrand are 112 extinct volcanoes. The original cone shape of these volcanoes, so-called Puys, has been preserved. The Puy-de-Dome is the highest volcano mountain at 1465 meters and you can see the spectacular landscape of Mont Dore from here. Mountain peaks such as the Puy Sancy and the Puy Mary guarantee a view over the entire central massif in clear weather. There are a number of beautiful walking routes and there are also plenty of options for cycling enthusiasts. The Auvergne has a lot to offer and is characterized as an area where mass tourism does not yet have much of an impact. In summer it is nice and warm in the Auvergne. In autumn it is still very pleasant with about 19 degrees. In winter it is a snowy area and therefore extremely suitable for winter sports enthusiasts. There are various slopes and cable cars in, for example, Le Mont-Dore, Besse and Superbesse. The pool is maintained, you don't have to do this yourself.
