It's also a sensational spot from which to watch the sunrise and sunset. Just 7km away is the friendly little town of Vallon-Pont-d'Arc, where the Gorges de l'Ardèche begin. Hire a canoe and paddle the river from the superb Pont d'Arc. Don't miss a visit to the UNESCO-listed Chauvet cave, or the Aven d'Orgnac (21 km). There are also the magnificent medieval villages of Labeaume (10 km), Largentière (18 km), Balazuc (14 km), one of the prettiest villages in France, and Vogüé (20 km). N.B.
