The Vinha dOrdem is located in Amieira do Tejo, part of the União de Freguesias de Arez e Amieira do Tejo. It is a small estate that is believed to have once belonged to a religious order, possibly the Knights of Crato or the Templars. It was renowned for the quality of its orange trees and vegetable gardens, which local and regional residents would purchase for household consumption. This was partly due to the unfavorable climate and partly because most of the land was owned by large agricultural estates and traditional families. These landowners monopolized the land and agricultural production, leaving most locals without land or water for cultivation. As a result, they had to rely on purchasing these goods from the wealthy families of Amieira do Tejo, using their limited resources. The estate eventually came into the possession of its current owner, with the intention of being used by the entire family, particularly the middle sibling, who aimed to apply for a young farmer program. While this project was initiated, various challenges prevented it from fully achieving its goals, leading the family to terminate the process and decide to sell the propertys assets. Despite these setbacks, Vinha dOrdem has preserved, enhanced, and modernized its core features. Improvements include the installation of a generator, photovoltaic panels, high-pressure pumps, and a borehole, in addition to the estates five existing wells and a permanent and inexhaustible spring. The spring feeds a 60,000-liter tank and, along with the high-pressure pumps, supports a drip irrigation system that covers the entire property. This system also supplies water to the houses and could support the operation of a swimming pool or other water-dependent structures. The estates exceptionally fertile soil allows for the cultivation of a wide range of crops, including pasture, olive groves, fruit trees, vegetables, and aromatic herbs. There is a dedicated 500 m² area ready for aromatic herb cultivation. The land is fenced, prepared for various agricultural activities, and suitable for livestock. Some ancient orange trees remain and bear fruit between May and June. The property includes three houses: Casa da Fonte (75 m²), which is habitable; Casa do Muro (65 m² with a 30 m² terrace), a spacious house in need of finishing touches; Casa de Baixo, a beautiful and traditional two-story house requiring rehabilitation, with potential for residential use. Sanitation is managed through septic tanks, which have never required emptying. If desired, the sale could include an additional 6,750 m² plot, formally separate from Vinha dOrdem but owned by the sellers. This land is equipped with drip irrigation connected to the existing system and is fully fenced. It contains 50 to 60 century-old Galega olive trees, which produce high-quality and abundant olive oil. The grove's density could be increased fourfold. The sale could also include all existing machinery, as well as three pregnant mares and a stallion. In summary, Vinha dOrdem is a unique small estate with a rich, centuries-old history and unparalleled potential.
