Varberg is a popular destination with the medieval castle Varbergs Fästning as an important landmark. In Varberg there is Halland's cultural history museum, which is known for the Bockstensmannen. In the city there are theaters, a cinema and a large number of concerts are given in summer. Many appreciate Varberg for its cozy little streets with good shopping. Fun little shops, market stalls every Wednesday and Saturday and in the harbor below the fortress a row of arts and crafts stalls. Just outside Varberg is Getterön, one of Sweden's most famous birding areas. There are also exhibitions, a shop and a café here. Another nice excursion destination is the Åkulla beech forests and for those of you who are technically interested, it is not far to the world heritage site Grimeton. Grythyttan has several beautiful buildings well worth visiting, Grythyttan's Church, for example, is from the 17th century with a special architecture. A visit to Loka Brunn is also recommended. With a long history, the organized spa activities started there in 1720. You can reach Loka Brunn in about 15 minutes by car. Nora city is about 30 minutes away by car and has beautiful walking paths around Lake Nora and why not take the opportunity to taste the good Nora ice cream. For nature lovers and hikers, the Bergslagsleden is an excellent way to explore the surrounding nature. The trail stretches through forests, over lakes and past historic sites. The distance to the border trade Töcksfors/Årjäng is 110 km. If you are a guest in the area at the end of September, we can recommend the historic Årjäng market, one of Sweden's largest and oldest markets.
